Post 16 Entry Requirements
Students must meet a minimum entry requirement
for entry to the sixth form:
- For AS/A2 (level 3) courses the minimum entry requirement is
normally 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE
- For AVCE courses (level 3) the minimum entry requirement is
normally 4 or more C grades at GCSE
- For GNVQ courses (level 2) the minimum entry requirement is
normally 4 or more D grades at GCSE
A further minimum requirement is set by each school in terms of the required subject grade for some specific courses. These may differ from school to school or college and are meant to indicate the kind of performance at GCSE which is required to be successful in the post 16 course being applied for. Each school/college requirement is set out in their prospectus.
When applications are considered, first priority will be given to students facing exceptional circumstances as described above.
Second priority will be given to those students meeting the minimum entry and required subject grades.
In the event of over subscription for any particular school, after priorities one and two have been applied, the third stage would be to prioritise eligible students for the places available based upon distance from home to school measured in a straight line.
